Radio Free Tango is a razor-sharp musical set in a fictional 1960s South American city where tango is banned and revolution is brewing. Here, we meet Isabel, the spoiled daughter of a rabid general. When Isabel discovers her mother’s secret past, she sneaks off to Café Oblivion to learn more. What she finds is a hotbed of resistance fueled by the obsessive energy of tango fanatics plotting subversion and broadcasting dissent.

Drawn to the forbidden rhythms, Isabel follows a perilous path of resistance, longing and transformation — until personal desires clash with political reality. Radio Free Tango pulses with the passion and urgency of authentic Argentine tango. It blends music, dance and revolutionary spirit into a fierce and timely tale of love, memory, and finding your voice.

"What sets this piece apart is the combination of serious given circumstances and high stakes, while at the same time maintaining the thread of playfulness and irreverence, with the idea that joy and humor are great antidotes." —Will Pomerantz, Director, EVITA
